From Goal Setting to Job Offer: Robert’s Successful Job Search Journey

Finding a job in today’s competitive market can feel like a daunting task, but with the right approach, it’s entirely possible.

Let me share how Robert secured his ideal job in Finance through three key strategies: Networking, Clarity, and Persistence.

1. Networking

Robert understood that building and maintaining relationships with both existing and new connections was crucial to securing a position in his desired field.

Steps We Took:

  • Identifying Key Connections: Together, we identified the best connections for him within the Finance and Banking industry.
  • Reaching Out: Robert reached out to former colleagues and managers, clearly communicating his professional goals.

Thanks to the referrals from these connections, Robert was able to secure interviews and ultimately land his new job.

2. Clarity

Robert had a clear vision of where he wanted to work, the management style he preferred, the work culture he sought, and the team environment he desired.

It was crystal clear for him.

Steps We Took:

  • Target Company List: I guided him in creating a target company list to identify companies that aligned with his values and professional goals.
  • Reinforcing His Network: We worked on a plan to strengthen his network and deepen his knowledge about these companies.

3. Persistence

When we met in December 2023, Robert set a goal to find a job within six months. He diligently networked and applied for positions consistently over this period.

By June, he had received his first job offer and was negotiating with another company.

Steps We Took:

  • Job Search Tracking: We had monthly meetings or email check-in, it helped him staying motivated and confident that we will land a job.
  • Navigating Offers: He sought guidance on navigating the job offers, and ultimately, Robert secured a position at the company that was at the top of his target list.

On July 16, 2024, Robert started his new job, achieving his goal of securing a position at the company he wanted, with the salary he deserved, and the work-life balance he sought.

The exact company he mentioned when we met in December.

This success story made my day and reminded me of why I love being part of this journey with my students and clients. Their hard work and dedication are truly inspiring!
